From Kentish cider and potato vodka to a brilliantly easy alcohol-free Mojito, here’s what we’re putting on ice this Bank Holiday.
We love making cocktails. We love drinking cocktails considerably more.
So this Bank Holiday we’re keeping things simple: fire up the BBQ, fill the table with great Kentish food and make sure there’s something cold within reaching distance.
Here’s what we’re drinking.
Canterbury Cider – for the BBQ
It doesn’t get much more Bank Holiday than a cold cider beside the BBQ. Canterbury Cider is made by the Maylam family at Bilting Grange Farm, with a cider-making tradition stretching back more than two generations.
Their Celebration Cider even took Best in Class Gold at the 2025 British Cider Championships. Sausages on, cider open. Done.
Kentish Pip – for something new
Woolton Farm’s Kentish Pip is celebrating ten years with a fresh new look and an exciting new drinks range.
Alongside its refreshed ciders are three sparkling apple sodas – Kentish Apple, Hibiscus & Rose and Gooseberry & Elderflower. All-natural, apple-based and a very grown-up alternative to the usual soft drink.
Fever-Tree Mojito – for cocktails without the faff
Our supermarket wildcard.
We’re serving Fever-Tree Mojito alcohol-free, over mountains of ice with fresh lime, mint and perhaps a few Kentish strawberries.
No muddling. No squeezing endless limes. No standing in the kitchen making cocktails while everyone else is enjoying themselves outside.
Is it cheating? Possibly. Are we bothered? Not remotely.
Biddenden Kentish Kiss – for drinking a world champion
Here’s something to celebrate: Biddenden’s Biddies Kentish Kiss has just been named World’s Best Rosé Cider at the 2026 World Cider Awards.
Made with 100% Kentish fruit, it’s crisp, lightly sparkling and wonderfully summery.
A world champion made right here in Kent? We’ll raise a glass to that.
Morghew Potato Vodka – for something brilliantly different
Yes, vodka made from Kentish potatoes.
Morghew Potato Vodka began when Morghew Park Estate near Tenterden found itself with a surplus of Yukon Gold potatoes. Rather than waste them, they turned them into a clean, crisp vodka.
It’s wonderfully bonkers – and exactly the sort of Kentish innovation we love.
Greensand Ridge Wealden Rum – for sundown
When the BBQ starts dying down but nobody wants to go home, reach for Greensand Ridge Wealden Rum.
Made from surplus molasses from UK sugar production at the distillery in Shipbourne, it has notes of honeycomb, cobnuts, raisin and oak.
Serve it with Kentish apple juice, mint and plenty of ice and hang onto summer for just a little bit longer.
Now all you need are Kentish sausages, cheese, bread, crisps and a big bowl of strawberries. Bank Holiday sorted.
