Record-Breaking Visitor Numbers Flock To Kent Life’s Bank Holiday Ice Cream Festival

A record-breaking 2,000 people visited the Kent Life Heritage Farm Park’s Ice Cream festival in record-breaking August bank holiday temperatures to enjoy more than 60 varieties of ice cream. Candy Floss and Cherry Bakewell were the best-selling flavours.

Thirty-year-old mum of three, Laura Taylor from Walderslade, was celebrating at the festival after scooping first prize in the festival’s Facebook competition to come up with the ideal ice cream flavour.  Laura’s suggestion of carrot cake was judged as the winning entry.

Kent Life marketing manager, Sarah Hirsch, said, “We received more than 200 entries and it was a pretty tough call to judge.  We toyed with pizza for a while but common sense prevailed!”

As well as winning a family ticket to the ice cream festival, Ramsgate ice cream makers Ro Ros, run by couple Dean Smith and Bonnie Drinkwater, stepped in to make Laura’s carrot cake ice cream a reality.  Ro Ros served up their innovative ice cream rolls at the festival with Laura and family on-hand to get the first taste of the carrot cake creation and give it their seal of approval.

Giving her ice cream the thumbs up, Laura commented, “I make cakes for friends and family and carrot cake is one of our family favourites.  It’s delicious!”
