Kent Vertical Farmer to introduce nutritionally enhanced Pea Shoots Biofortified with Vitamin B12.
Vertical microgreen farm Ro-Gro is set to energise shoppers as it launches the UK’s very first pea shoots biofortified with vitamin B12 to retail shelves this June. The pea shoots grown in Ro-Gro’s vertical farm are biofortified with B12, using ultrasonic aeroponic technology; the seedlings are grown without soil and irrigated with a nutrient-dense mist.
Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient primarily found in animal products and it plays a crucial role in maintaining nerve function, aiding in the production of DNA and red blood cells, and supporting overall energy levels. For individuals following a plant-based or vegetarian lifestyle, obtaining an adequate amount of Vitamin B12 can sometimes be challenging. That’s where Ro-Gro’s B12 Pea Shoots come in. A 15g portion will provide at least 2.4µg (micrograms) of vitamin B12 which is an adult’s recommended daily allowance (RDA).. The pea shoots also contain vitamins A, C and K, as well as a source of fibre and protein, all of which are important for a healthy diet.
