Kent Food Trails Launched

Kent, the Capital of English Wine launches the first Kent Food Trail; Vineyards and Wines

Produced in Kent – the organisation dedicated to Kent’s food and drink – is launching Kent Food Trails and the first trail, Vineyards and Wines, will be published on the new website www.kentfoodtrails.co.uk on the 1st of October.

The Kent wine scene has taken an exciting turn this week as Produced in Kent member Chapel Down announces plans to become the largest producer in England. A recent agreement to lease a further 388 acres of prime viticulture land adjoining the existing vineyards on the North Downs will, once planted, amount to 950 total supply acreage. It’s a real coup for Kentish Wine.

Kent Food Trails are designed to gather and condense huge quantities of information and history into easy bite-sized chunks for Kent’s increasing numbers of foodie visitors. The Kent Food Trail publications will offer an overview by subject comprising facts, historical snippets, nutritional information, harvest, varieties and stunning photography. Once your appetite is whet you can head to the website www.kentfoodtrails.co.uk to find more specific details on walking trails, maps, tasting rooms, places to stay, bars and restaurants. The Produced in Kent team has done all the hard work and research for your visit to ‘The Garden of England’.

Kent isn’t known as the Capital of English Wine for nothing. The county offers a true wine-lovers experience, thanks to the growing number of cellar doors, tours, tastings and grape-infused dining experiences.

Produced in Kent Manager Stephanie Durling says, “there are already over 50 vineyards in Kent with more cropping up all the time. It’s such an exciting time with Kent’s wines picking up major awards at the international wine competitions. Right now, especially with the exciting news from Chapel Down, the enthusiasm and interest in English wine is riding higher than ever and Kent has the perfect blend of soils, climate and passion.
